As New Zealandā€™s largest footwear retailer, Number One Shoes wanted a retail makeover to reflect its shift toward higher quality and more fashion-orientated products; however their brief and budget only allowed for an affordable refit consisting of little or no building work and this had to be installed without closing theĀ store.

We designed a ā€˜Pop-upā€™ focussed fit out model suitable for mass production off-site and easy roll-out, consisting of a simple Kit-of-Parts comprised of new graphics, signage, visual-merchandising, a modular steel frame system and plywood display units.Ā Images by Nigel Marple

The concept was to create a market-like atmosphere in certain areas of the store to highlight featured product, while leaving around 80% of the original fixturing in place, a transformation we believe to be unique for a mass rollout in New Zealand. The result has been a significant sales increases compared to stores yet to be fitted out.
